Swimming Again

18th March, 2009 - It's been a long long while since I last swam. Been feeling lethargic and lack of energy ... hmm ... together with 8 kids, what better way to spend the lovely evening? We had quite a fun time, splashing at each other, screaming away and well, I managed to swim a few laps before doing some squats and stretches in the pool. Always felt at home in the water. Just observing the children having fun brings happy thoughts and well, just can't help but smile, reminiscing on similar fun time when I was their age .... aahhh ^_^

Swimming has been my favourite sport for ages. It all started when we, girl guides had to take swimming test for our 'pangkat' pandu puteri. What a blessing! I was the only one in the family who had the opportunity to go for swimming lessons. My swimming instructor, Arthur was a good instructor and we girls picked up the basic skills pretty fast. I for one was quite a slow swimmer, sometimes concentrating too much on getting the perfect strokes so much so that during swimming competitions I almost always emerged last but my instructor would comment me on the nice strokes ^_^ Ha ha ... thinking back ... what's the use of having the right strokes and losing out on the competition right? Anyway, it doesn't matter anymore coz swimming has become my lifelong love.
In fact, I simply love the feel of water. Still could remember we girls from Convent would go for a whale of a splashing time at Mimaland or Chin Woo Stadium during weekends or school holidays. Back then, we only have the public pools and we would take the trouble to take public buses, walk quite a distance before reaching the swimming pool, sweaty and all ^_^
This evening, at the pool, Dash, Bob, Jenny, Jasmine, May, Soon Khai, Vincent and Victor ... they made a chain of train with one pulling the hands of kid A, dragging as she walks along, with kid B also gliding in the water, holding on to the legs of kid A ... and they all made a chain of kids gliding happily in the water ... so much so that they didn't want to get out of the swimming pool, if not for Odelia who started counting from 10 to 1, a signal that we all have to pack and go home ! We'll come again next time ya???
