Sweet Candy

23rd March, 2009 - Today as I was screening through my book collections in the library, I stumbled upon this little exercise book which held many of my childhood drawings, mostly of manga characters. Back then, it was all simple manga sketches that I would painstakingly copy down, especially little Sweet Candy. As I flip through the familiar pages, a wave of sweet memory came flowing through, bringing me back to those carefree days, of happily ever after fairy tales ... ^_^

Long ago, in the attap house where I partly grew up in, we, especially girls, would crowd around the tv area, eager to continue watching our beloved Sweet Candy on the screen every evening. I would be swept off into this happy happy land where farm animals roam freely, birds chirping and singing, green green hills overlooking clear blue skies and the snow capped mountains during winter ... wow! Just couldn't get enough, had to also read the many chapters in those manga storybooks. Guess that's how I picked up my limited Mandarin too ... Out of 10 words in a sentence, I could read about 6 to 8 characters and the rest, well, it's not tough to decipher so much so that I could understand the contents and enjoy them thoroughly ^_^
Now, when I chance upon Dash copying his favourite characters, just like the way I did back then, a flash of yester years would come knocking ... hmm ... Dash would look up at me stealing a glance at his drawing and he would flash his cute grin at me and ask : Look, mummy, do you think I have your gene ?? Well, well, well, you certainly do, Dash ^_^
