Service At School

3rd March, 2009 - It's been 2 months since the afternoon English/BM enhancement project started. All in all there have been 3 rounds of recruitment lead by me (ahem! the only non-Chinese educated PIBG member kononnya :-). So far, it's been a rich experience for me :

• drafting the advertisement in the newspaper;


• receiving/replying phone calls and emails from potential candidates;


• conducting interviews;


• conducting and evaluating mock classes;


• shortlisting of candidates;


• drafting of letters of offer;


• induction of successful candidates;


• monitoring the new teachers' progress through actual class observations as well as various meetings;


• rescheduling of time-table;


• taking down and disseminating of minutes of meeting;


• analysing feedbacks and comments;


• even went through the process of terminating non-performing teachers and replacement exercises.

Phew ! Didn't realise the amount of non-money generating time flew just like that, did realise though, that all these services were given generously from my heart. Feels great, putting on my thinking cap for the betterment of the students and carving the way for higher standards of English and BM amongst them, our children, our future .... Learnt tonnes along the way too ^_^

More challenges ahead .... I am up to it, YES !
